Getting
Setup with Windows 2000
Configuring
your connection is easy and takes less than 5 minutes. You will
need your local access number to connect to the Internet. If
you don't already know the number, go
to the Access Numbers page
- From
your desktop, right click on the 'My Network Places'
icon
- From
the menu, select 'Properties'
- You
will see the Network and Dialup connections screen
- Double
click the 'Make New Connection' icon
- When
you see the 'Welcome to the Network Connection Wizard' screen,
click 'Next'
- Select
'Dial up to the Internet' and click 'Next'
- Select
the option to set up your Internet connection manually
(the third one) and click 'Next'
- Select
I connect using a phone line and a modem and click
'Next'.
- Enter
your local access number (without area code, i.e. 555-5555)

here)
- Click
the button that says 'Advanced'
- Select
the 'Connection' tab
- Under
'Connection Type', check to see that you have
'PPP' selected
- Under
'Logon Procedure', check to see that you have 'None'
selected
- Click
'OK'
- Click
'Next'
- Enter
your username (login@cheapdialup.net) and
password and click 'Next'
- Enter
a name for the connection (i.e. Cheap Dialup) and click
'Next'
- You
will be asked if you want to setup an Internet mail account.
Click 'No'
- Click
'Finish'
That's
it! Anytime you want to connect to the Internet just double
click the new icon in your Network and Dialup Connections window.
